Traveling has grown a lot in recent years, which makes checking and managing travelers’ passports more important than ever. To meet this need, Plustek has developed passport recognition solutions that can quickly scan passports from different countries and turn them into digital files for easy storage and management.

Right now, the most common way of checking passports is by reading the MRZ (machine-readable zone). But here’s the problem—most MRZ hardware providers only give out an API and sample programs, leaving system vendors to do all the heavy integration work. On top of that, many applications either don’t support both scanning and recognition together, or they charge extra for those features. Because of these limits, many vendors still rely on photocopying passports and typing the details in manually, which is slow and time-consuming.
